About Kate
Kate loves to be a catalyst for others by inspiring and teaching them to find their path to wellness. Over the years, she has assisted thousands of celebrities, executives, athletes, and fitness enthusiasts lose weight and adopt healthier habits.
Her path has taken her all over the United States and the world. From growing up in the heart of Massachusetts, to upstate New York for her BS in Exercise Science, to New York City where she was a sought out swim instructor and personal trainer, to London for training, to Hawaii where she taught yoga and fitness classes on a cruise ship, to Patagonian Chile for a year long course with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), to a van leading tours around the Southwest hiking and camping, and Southern California where she ran an award winning wellness retreat program.
She has been described as a seeker and quirky professor. The former is due to her constant reading, listening to podcasts and taking continuing education courses. The latter is because of how she shares her knowledge with her sense of humor.
About Vanessa
Vanessa Merlo is a wife, mother, and Health Coach. Her passion for health and fitness began in college. During her junior year, she started her own weight loss journey with a promise to learn how to sustain a clean, healthy lifestyle. By doing so she lost 80lbs!
After a short stint in the corporate world, Vanessa chose to follow her heart and became a personal trainer. Knowing that exercise is only part of the wellness equation, she has continued to study nutrition and other techniques to discover the the healthiest, most natural ways to lose weight and keep it off. While honoring her craft and sharing her knowledge with others, she lost an additional 20 lbs, putting her total at 100lbs lost. The promise she made to herself years before came to fruition and continues even after becoming a mother.
Now, her goal is simple. Help those in need as a health and wellness coach. Her mission: Inspire and coach others to live a healthier life through food and fitness.

We enjoy the benefits of a smaller group.
The house can hold up to 16 guests, but we expect no more than 12-14 guests.
Our program is designed to accommodate most fitness levels. Most of the activities are at a moderate pace and we expect people to have different levels of abilities.
Our staff has over 15 years experience in running fitness programs and can modify classes and hikes based off ability. Our health questionnaire aids us in determining if the program is right for you. Please share any concerns that you may have, so we can create the best plan of action for you.
To help you prepare, we will send you a movement plan to follow in advance.
The terrain is varied. We do use established trails, but they may be rocky, wet, muddy, and brushy. Expect steep up hills and down hills on occasion. Overall, they will challenge you, but they will be accomplishable. We won’t be sending you down any double black diamond trails.
We follow a whole foods, plant forward diet. Our meals are composed of whole grains, including quinoa, millet, and brown rice, legumes, nuts, fruits, and lots of vegetables. We find that our guests are surprised to feel full and nourished.
We ask that all allergies be shared with us in advance to help us accommodate them. We strongly encourage everyone with a severe allergy to carry Benedyl and/or an Epi-Pen, especially if you have a bee allergy.
If you have a severe nut allergy, our program will not be right for you.
The weather can fluctuate and we will send you a full packing list prior to your arrival. The mornings will be cooler than the afternoon, so layers are appropriate. Clothing with SPF and long sleeves and pants can protect you from the sun and insect bites, including ticks.
Workout clothes are best for fitness classes. And there is no need to dress up for meals.
You most likely will not be the only one!
We recognize that everyone has different experience levels and goals, and want to be supportive of your journey. Please feel free to communicate any concerns you have before, during, or after your program so we can guide you in your process.
Safety is a priority for us and have a Risk Management Plan that we developed to assist us in minimizing the risk of injuries, but they still may occur. Our staff is professionally trained and equipped to handle a range of medical and environmental scenarios if they occur. Having our guests following instructions, directions, and guidance of our expert staff, aids us in diminishing the risk of injury.
We pay close attention to all necessary safety details, and continuously update and improve our precautionary systems and plans. Should anything out of the ordinary occur, our staff is professionally trained and equipped to handle a range of medical emergency scenarios.
We encourage everyone to minimize their phone and internet usage. If you need to stay connected, there is Wi-Fi in the house. We will provide an Emergency Number if needed for loved ones to reach you if needed.
Our guests and staff will be the only people with access to the lodging, but we strongly encourage you to leave your valuables at home, as we are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
